Dura-stretch aluminium framed canvasesare unique to Tanji's Art Supplies. Made here in New Zealand,Dura-Stretch canvases are produced with our own unique aluminium stretcher bars that will not warp, twist, rot, or deform as a result of humidity changes and other climatic conditions that reduce durability and stability in standard wooden stretcher frames.

Dura-Stretch Canvases are ideal for:
  • Narrow Canvases - Narrow canvas tend to twist more readily than square shaped canvases. Twisting of the stretcher bar can occur even in the best seasoned wood, even some years after a painting has been installed. Dura-stretch canvases do not twist as a result of environmental changes.
  • Exported Art - Some countries require items made from wood to be fumigated at the border. Aluminium stretcher bars do not require fumigation.
  • Large Canvases - Because Dura-stretch stretcher bars are considerably stronger than typical pine stretcher bars, they are ideal for large art works.They are stronger, straighter and will not twist or warp like timber framed canvases can. With a 7 Um anodising coating they will not corrode and are fully recylable.


Made with our unique DX350 polyester / cotton blended canvas, these canvases are super strong, resistant to tension fluctuations and typical humidity issues.
